This is the first book in the Have a Hart series that I have read. They all seem to have animals linked to the story, which makes it pretty cute. This book was a fast read, so if you find yourself with some free time before bed or while you are waiting for the kids in the pickup line at school, you should pick up this book and see how you like it.
The Hart's seem like a close knit family and enjoy spending time together. Jenna was the one that moved away, but she's back in town to get her name noticed in the fashion world and help out the local firefighters by holding a charity event. Her brother is the fire chief and doesn't want to let his guys be part of a fashion show, so Jenna decides to sweet talk him and bribe him with a cute little new firehouse puppy.
Harley, the basset hound pup, steals the show in this book. He's adorable and seems to know just what to do to bring the characters together. Harley zips away from Jenna and happens to get found by a family friend, Larry. Larry and Jenna end up spending time together taking care of Harley, having him visit the local dog park, and eventually have feeling for each other.
There are misunderstandings to go though, like most romance books, but the end wraps things up nicely. The characters are imperfect and have flaws, but don't we all?
Larry is a sweet guy - proven in the way he researches how to take care of basset hounds and does what's best for Harley. Jenna is ambitious and following her dreams of being a fashion designer. What I liked was how they supported and encouraged each other.
